Roma Saleyards achieves sales milestone in 2025/26 financial year

The Roma Saleyards has closed the 2025/26 financial year with another outstanding result, recording 362,051 head sold through the facility across 12 months and cattle sales valued at a record $554 million.
Throughout the year, cattle from across Queensland and interstate were consigned through the Roma Saleyards, reinforcing the facility's position as Australia's largest cattle selling centre.
Portfolio spokesperson for the Roma Saleyards and Mayor Wendy Taylor said the record year reflected the continued confidence producers, buyers and agents have in the facility.
"The Roma Saleyards is a major economic driver for the Maranoa region and plays an important role in Australia's beef industry," Mayor Taylor said.
"Selling more than 362,000 head across the financial year is a remarkable achievement and reflects the confidence producers, buyers and agents continue to place in the Roma Saleyards.
"Council would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who contributes to the ongoing success of the Roma Saleyards, including producers, selling agents, buyers, transport operators, contractors and Council staff.
“The future of the Roma Saleyards is very exciting, with upgrades currently underway which will enhance the usability, safety and quality of the facility.”
"At the same time, work is progressing on the Roma Saleyards Master Plan, which will help guide future investment and ensure the facility continues to support producers and the broader beef industry for many years to come."
The Roma Saleyards conducts weekly cattle sales every Tuesday commencing at 8:00am. Additionally, the Saleyards also hosts bull & special sales, spelling and private weighing services.
The Roma Saleyards is also a must-see tourism attraction within the Maranoa region, with free guided tours held at the facility every Tuesday starting from 8:30am. Here, visitors can experience the Val Harms Interactive Centre, watch live as auctioneers showcase their fast-paced skills and gain insight into a wonderful Australian industry.
