Just under 10,000 head of cattle were consigned through Roma Saleyards for the second last sale of 2025.

The mixed quality yarding and big numbers did not stop the market from holding strong with prices firm across the day.

Al the regular processors, feedlotters and backgrounders were present and actively bidding amongst the heat of the laneways.

A large proportion of cattle were drawn from northern and western regions including Quilpie, Longreach, Augathella, Muttaburra and Tambo as well as from the local supply district including Mitchell, Morven, Injune and St George.

The selection and quality of cattle on offer once again solidified Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice.

Russell Mocker offloaded a quality run of Santa Gertrudis steers to fetch an average 571c/kg weighing in at 285kg for a return of $1,627/hd.

Operating out of ‘Surprise’ at St George, two pens of the Santa Gertrudis steers made 600c/kg to weigh 260kg for an average return of $1,462/hd.

On the heavier end, a pen of Mr Mocker’s steers sold for 542c/kg weighing 323kg to make $1,751/hd.

The line was consigned through Nutrien Roma. Pictured below is vendor Russell Mocker and livestock agent Jake Robinson.
