While the number of cattle yarded at this week’s sale was down in comparison to last week, the number of people who filled the laneways was not; with the regular buyers, feedlotters and backgrounders in attendance, competing for over 5,300 head of cattle.

This week once again saw the yarding drawn from many areas across Queensland, further solidifying the Roma Saleyards as being the marketplace of choice.

Cattle were drawn from the local Maranoa supply district including Injune, Muckadilla, Mungallala, Surat and Yuleba, as well as the western regions of Boulia, Blackall, Longreach and Winton.

Cattle were also drawn from as far afield as Julia Creek and Mount Isa.

BJ and WR Taylor of ‘Marjundale’, Injune, sold Charolais cross steers, selling to 552c/kg for an average weight of 249kg, averaging $1,373/hd.

The line was consigned through PJH Livestock and Property.

AW and E Forster offloaded a run of steers for 497c/kg to make an average weight of 299kg to receive a return of $1,485/hd.

Operating out of ‘Werna Station’, Winton, one pen of Charolais cross steers sold for 476c/kg, averaging 336kg for a return average of $1,601/hd.

The line was consigned through Ray White Longreach.

Belfast Grazing Co, based at ‘Belfast Station’, Winton, offloaded steers averaging 442kg, fetching 459c/kg and averaging $2,031/hd.

Having sold cattle at the Roma Saleyards over the past twelve weeks, this week saw one pen of Brahman cross steers make 435c/kg to make an average weight of 551kg, returning $2,397/hd.

One pen of Charbray cross steers made 484c/kg weighing an average of 473kg to make an average return of $2,292/hd.
