Following good rain across the region and consequent hiatus of last week’s sale, the weekly Tuesday cattle sale at the Roma Saleyards was back in action with over 7,600 head of cattle on offer.
With a quality yarding penned to go under the hammer, the Roma Saleyards can once again be solidified as the marketplace of choice.
The laneways were packed and the regular buyers, feedlotters and backgrounders were in attendance competing for the yarding.
The Maranoa supply district was one of the main regions in which cattle were consigned from including Injune, Jackson, Mitchell, Muckadilla, Mungallala and Yuleba.
Cattle were also drawn from Drillham, Miles and Taroom, and from Augathella, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Morven and Quilpie in the west.
Rosehearty Grazing Co of ‘Koonong Downs’, Muckadilla offloaded a run of steers and heifers.
The steers fetched 538c/kg, averaging 362kg and receiving a return of $1,950/hd.
One pen of Santa Gertrudis steers fetched 581c/kg, weighing in at 291kg to make $1,693/hd.
Rosehearty Grazing Co’s heifers sold for 428c/kg, weighing in at 305kg and receiving a return of $1,310/hd.
One pen of Santa Gertrudis heifers made 440c/kg, averaging 334kg and making $1,471/hd.
Another pen of Santa Gertrudis heifers sold to 450c/kg to weigh 241kg and receive a return of $1,089/hd.

TW & NJ Jukes of ‘Armadilla Station’, Morven, sold a run of steers for 456c/kg to weigh 523kg and make $2,388/hd.
Five pens of Santa Gertrudis cross steers fetched 454c/kg, with one of the pens weighing in at 541kg and receiving $2,457/hd.
Another pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers sold to 464c/kg to weigh 558kg and make $2,593/hd.
