The Roma Saleyards was abuzz with action at this week’s Tuesday cattle sale – while the weather cooled off, the competition remained hot with many good lines of cattle fetching firm results.

There were people and cattle aplenty, the laneways and walkways were filled to the brim and over 9,700 head penned to go under the hammer.

Buyers, feedlotters and backgrounders competed for the yarding, which saw an increase of more than 1,200 head recorded on last week’s sale.

Once again, the offering travelled from near and far to go to market.

Cattle were drawn from across the Maranoa supply district including Injune, Mitchell, Roma, Surat, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.

Further across Queensland, cattle came from Wandoan and Taroom in the east, from Augathella, Blackall, Cunnamulla, Ilfracombe and Tambo in the west and from Glenmorgan and St George in the south.

In the northern parts of the Sunshine State, consignments travelled down from Kynuna and McKinlay.

The quality and selection of the cattle that was presented at this week’s sale again solidified the Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice.

Cooba Cattle Co sold one pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers at this week’s sale.

Operating out of ‘Cooba’, Glenmorgan, the pen fetched 592c/kg, to weigh 250kg and return $1,480/hd.
